Wild Goose Vineyards 2022 Pinot Gris (Okanagan Valley) BC

Availability: Direct from winery here
Cost: $19.99
Alcohol: 13%
Date Tasted: May 26th, 2023

Tasting Notes: An off-dry, refreshing Pinot Gris with plenty of crisp, orchard fruit acidity to keep the palate nicely balanced. Classic white peach and nectarine aromas are enhanced with malolactic fermentation notes of buttery, candied fruit. There is also a nice vein of minerals throughout, but most prominently showing on the mouth-watering palate where similar flavours mingle with citrus notes. Ready to go now.

SpearHead Winery 2022 Pinot Gris - 91pts

SpearHead Winery 2022 Pinot Gris (Summerland) Okanagan Valley - BC

Availability: Direct from winery here and BC Liquor Stores
Cost: $22
Alcohol: 13%
Date Tasted: May 7th, 2023

Tasting Notes: Another stellar vintage for East Kelowna's SpearHead Winery of the often underappreciated Pinot Gris grape. When executed with precision and care as SpearHead consistently does, Pinot Gris can yield a crisp, yet, generous wine with aromas and flavours of white peach, mellon, pears, citrus and gravel. The result is a wine which drinks - simply - beautifully.

You can find this underappreciated and overlooked white in most BC Liquor stores these days. Sure, you might get two, cheap bottles of Italian Pinot Grigio for the same price, but they will be plain and forgettable. You will remember yourself enjoying this wine and you will find yourself buying more. Drink now-2025.

Availability: Direct from winery here and select VQA stores
Cost: $20 + taxes
Alcohol: 13%
Date Tasted: April 14th, 2021

Tasting Notes: The balance of the 2020 edition of Spearhead's popular Pinot Gris is spot on with a touch more residual sugar than recent vintages contrasting beautifully with the zesty, citrus and white peach flavours and acidity. Though, don't jump to the refreshing palate before taking time to appreciate the racy and vibrant peach-fest nose.

This is the ultimate Summer sipper for its ratio of quality to refreshingness to affordability. Buy it by the case and drink it with friends, 6 feet apart:). Drink now-2023.

Tasting Notes: River Stone is a charming, family-owned and run
Estate Winery just North of Oliver and produces amazingly consistent wines each vintage, no matter what Mother Nature throws their way. The house style of their Pinot Gris release is defined by a straightforward approach in the vineyard and cellar; good fruit, no oak, texture and body from lees contact and their choice of yeast. Nothing flashy, nothing trashy. Good, honest Gris just like the family that produced it.

Ready to go now and sealed with a Stelvin cap to help lock in its refreshing, orchard-to-citrus fruit ratio. Drink now-2023.

Availability: Direct from winery here
Cost: $19.99 + taxes
Alcohol: 12.3%
Date Tasted: June 18th, 2020

Tasting Notes: Despite being one of the Province's oldest wineries, Mt. Boucherie is still looking at new ways of producing old favourites and striving to deliver better and better wines. This 2019 edition does just that and thanks to an evolved
Pinot Gris program which includes more skin contact after the crush imparting a light, pinky-brass hue and, more importantly, adding texture and tension that was missing from the 2018 vintage. There is also added depth and length to the new release which widens its food pairing option beyond salads and snacks. Roasted turkey and pork are on the table

Look for approachable, orchard fruit and a hint of cherry on the nose with pear, peach, stainless steel and spice flavours following on the mouth-watering, tangerine-acidity palate. Ready to go now. Drink 2020-2022.

Tasting Notes: A light, pinky-brass hued Pinot Gris thanks to extended skin contact during the press and fermentation stages. Though fermented and aged in only stainless steel, no oak, there's lots of texture on offer, contributing added dimension to the orchard and citrus fruit driven, well-balanced palate. Look for a medley of pear, peach, lemon skin and raw nut aromas on the nose.

Pair with a salty snack and a sunny deck or an Easter roast. Drink now-2021.

Tasting Notes: Though packing some weight, a touch of residual sugar and a hint of brass in the colour, this is an un-oaked, refreshing Pinot Gris with a crisp, vibrant edge to the otherwise aromatic nose and to the textured, mouth-watering palate. Peach pits and flesh, honeydew melon, floral notes and mineral-y, stone fruit and lime characters make this wine a great companion for seafood, spicy chips or Gruyere cheese.

Blue Mountain Vineyard and Cellars 2018 Pinot Gris - 88pts

Blue Mountain Vineyard and Cellars 2018 Pinot Gris (Okanagan Falls) Okanagan Valley - BC

Availability: Direct from winery here and private wine shops
Cost: $24.90
Alcohol: 13%
Date Tasted: July 3rd, 2019

Tasting Notes: A Pinot Gris fermented with native yeast and one that touches a lot of oak (15% in stainless steel) but mostly older barrels and casks with only a kiss of new oak intermixed in the ever-evolving élevage program. The use of native yeast yields a more 'raw' wine, with plenty of texture and character, less composed refinement from foreign yeasts (less manipulation).

Look for classic, stone and citrus fruit notes and rustic minerality throughout. Herbs and light spice show on the long, river stone flavoured finish. Drink now-2022.

Tasting Notes
A pale, amber gold hue with pear and apple notes prominent on the mineral and lemon peel scented  nose, followed by a similar collection of flavours on the bright, mouth-watering palate. Slightly thin mid-palate where a touch of heat sneaks through the orchard fruit and the green apple and lemon-lime acidity. Spice shows on the lip-smacking finish.

A Gris for Summer and salads, or, in complete contrast, for a fireside snack of hard cheeses. Drink now-2021.

Tasting Notes: A change in style from previous versions of this Summerland-sourced Pinot Gris which sees more intensity in both the residual sugar and acidity, creating a balanced wine, but one that tastes more like a ruckus Riesling, than a pleasant Pinot.

Citrus, green apple and pear fruit dominate the mineral-flavoured palate with a touch of aromatic, white blossoms on the nose. To be enjoyed in its youth. Drink now-2020.

Tasting Notes: The Tinhorn Creek Pinot Gris returns to form for the 2017 vintage featuring a near effortless balance of crisp apple and mineral-y citrus notes with more pungent aromas of ripe Tropical fruits. The palate offers a similar contrast with the textures of these fruits playing off one another elegantly, creating a complex mouthfeel, both vibrant and plump, like a perfectly ripe slice of honeydew melon.
