Jackson-Triggs Vintners 2010 Silver Series Viognier (Black Sage Bench) Okanagan Valley - BC
Availability: BCLDB stores
Cost: $12.49-15.99
Alcohol: 13.9%
Date Tasted: October 8th, 2012
Tasting Notes:A relatively simple Viognier missing the tropical fruit characters of some of the valley's more complex versions, yet, well balanced with solid pear, apple and peach fruit aromas and pleasant mineral flavours on the chewy, off-dry palate. Drink 2012-2014.

Jackson-Triggs Vintners 2006 Proprietors' Grand Reserve Cab-Shiraz - 85pts
Jackson-Triggs Vintners 2006 Proprietors' Grand Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon-Shiraz (Black Sage Bench) Okanagan Valley - BC
Availability: VQA stores. BCLDB stores
Cost: $19.99
Alcohol: 14.1%
Production: 1300 cases
Date Tasted: October 20th, 2010
Tasting Notes: Recently price adjusted to $19.99 from $27.99 (and appropriately so) this inky-ruby coloured wine is a blend of 51% Cabernet Sauvignon and 49% Shiraz. Aged in 50% French and 50% American oak barrels for 12 months, it offers medium intense aromas of cassis, dark cherry, spice box, dates, cedar, toasted oak and mineral notes on the nose.
The dry palate is unbalanced with tart acidity and too much heat. Overall, this is a decent wine with some nice spiciness and concentrated dark berry flavours which pair perfectly with braised ribs, but can't stand-up on its own. Drink 2010-2011.

Jackson-Triggs Vintners 2006 SunRock Vineyard Shiraz (Black Sage Bench) Okanagan Valley - BC
Availability: Direct from winery. BCLDB and VQA stores.
Cost: $35.00
Alcohol: 14.2%
Production: 800 cases
Date Tasted: June 8th, 2010
Tasting Notes: Awarded the title of "Best Red Wine of the Year" by Wine Access magazine in 2009. Is it deserved? Well, I'll let you be the judge of that but I will say that this is a high quality Shiraz with great concentration of flavour and aroma that is tasting beautifully now and shows the potential to improve further with time.
Aged in French and American Oak barrels for 18 months imparting a mixture of spice, vanilla and big tannins on the palate. Concentrated red fruit flavours balance the high tannins nicely. The intense nose offers developing aromas of red berries, finely ground pepper, minerals and some earthy notes. A 40 second+ finish of lingering spice completes the experience. Pair with lamb or grilled steak.
Buy and hold. With only 800 cases produced this has the chance of becoming a collectable wine. Drink now through 2015. 2007 vintage now available. CSPC# 987610.
