Tasting Notes: This Malbec (b
lended with 12% Syrah) is a full-bodied, juicy feast of lovely spice, black plum, sun-ripe blackberry and sweet earth characters on both the approachable nose and well-balanced palate whose ratio of fruit-to-savoury notes is spot on. Chakana Wiphala 2008 Malbec/Syrah - 86pts

Chakana Whiphala 2008 Malbec/Syrah (Mendoza) Argentina

Decanted: Vinturi

Cost: $15.99 (BC Liquor Store)

Date Tasted: September 2, 2009

Tasting Notes: The appearance was concentrated purple. The nose had hints of caramel, minerality, and smoke, The palate had very slight sweetness, chalk, vanilla, and plum with a good dose of tannins. The finish was warm and long.

Overall this wine had a distinct nose, was thick and fairly well balanced with good complexity. A very nice wine for a good price. A great recommendation and would do well with any BBQ. HC
