Tasting Notes: Tinhorn Creek makes a wide range of wines and has a number of specialties but the Golden Mile Bench winery should really be best known for its consistently intriguing, engaging and well-priced Cabernet Franc.
After a brief departure in 2009 to a ripe Californian style of the Bordeaux variety, the cool-climate "funk" is back in a big way for the 2010 edition with pungent aromas of blue cheese caressing the concentrated blue fruit, cola and sweet black licorice notes on the expressive nose. The dry, tangy and cocoa powder-infused palate follows with moderate tannins and balanced coffee grind, spice and dark berry fruit flavours. Ready to be enjoyed now with a Sunday roast or hold for 3-4 years. Drink 2012-2015.
