Tasting Notes: Not surprisingly, this Chasselas-Pinot Blanc-Pinot Gris blend is the top selling, BC VQA white wine in BC. Certainly, in part, due to the sheer volume produced each vintage (there are more cases of this one label than the total output of many of the Province's boutique wineries), but mostly due to its impressive consistency, year-to-year and its versatility as a dinner companion to white meat dishes (of both the land and sea varieties).

Always clean, always crisp. Look for refreshing and vibrant notes of Asian pear flesh, grapefruit peel, lemon, peach pit and steel on the appealing nose and the mouth-watering palate. Drink now-2022.

St. Hubertus Estate Winery 2009 Chasselas - 86pts

St. Hubertus Estate Winery 2009 Chasselas (Kelowna) Okanagan Valley - BC

Availability: Direct from winery here
Cost: $16.75
Alcohol: 10.8%
Date Tasted: May 24th, 2011

Tasting Notes: "Chassel-what?" Although most prominently known as a Swiss grape, Chasselas may have more synonyms than any other varietal which likely contributes to its relative unfamiliarity with many North American wine drinkers. The St. Hubertus Estate Winery edition is a straight-shooting, low-alcohol and joyful wine that offers delicate aromas of peaches, golden delicious apples and violets on the nose followed by an off-dry palate of mild citrus, orchard and tropical fruit flavours.

A fun picnic wine that won't wear down your alcohol tolerance quickly and keep you refreshed in the sunshine with good acidity and sweetness. Enjoy this wine in its youth. Drink 2011-2012.
