Date Tasted: June 28th, 2012
Tasting Notes: The classed growths of Pauilac are about elegant, powerful and long-lasting Cabernet Sauvignon. With 85% in the final blend the Mouton is no exception and delivers on its mythical reputation in an exceptional Medoc vintage that sees the best wines lasting 30-40 years or longer. Dense and smoky with layers of dark fruit, tobacco, oak, dried herbs, licorice, vanilla, mint and cedar characters galore. The palate is ultra silky with lively acidity and supremely enjoyable after 6+ hours of decanting, yet, the wine still comes across as very youthful, needing 5 more years to achieve its initial peak following which the wine should hold and evolve for decades. Drink 2017-2035+.
