Tasting Notes: When a winery produces two (or more) tiers of one particular variety it's hard not to compare them. In the case of Tinhorn Creek this is a fairly direct and fair comparison as the fruit for both their varietal and Oldfield Series wines were sourced from the same vineyard and thus we're left with barrel selection, oak treatment and time in bottle as the biggest differentiators between the two versions. With this Oldfield Series release, which sees an extra year in bottle, you get a little more of, well, everything. A little more elegance, a little more intensity, a little more fruit and a little more harmony in the overall presentation when compared to the 2008 varietal release.
This is an excellent Pinot Noir with a classic BC combination of earthy notes with red fruit and plum characters that emphasizes drinkability and food pairing. Drink 2012-2015.
