Tasting Notes: Pleasant white peach, pear and lemon meringue aromas greet you on the nose of this new Chardonnay from Cassini Cellars. Although "un-oaked", the palate opens with a lovely mouth feel thanks to the winery's generous use of a secondary, malolactic fermentation which aims to soften the variety's natural high acidity and contributes buttercream flavours and texture. Beyond the peaches'n'cream facade the palate continues with prominent apple and mineral flavours with crisp citrus acidity, though finishing just a tad bitter, despite the 7 g/l of residual sugar. Overall, the wine remains light, refreshing and decently complex making a nice patio sipper or aperitif. Drink now-2015.
