Gold Hill Winery 2011 Chardonnay - 87pts
Availability: Direct from winery gate. Website info here
Date Tasted: June 18th, 2012
Tasting Notes: When compared to Gold Hill's tasty and more complex 2010 edition, the 2011 is successfully straight-forward and a tad sweeter on the peach fruit-cup infused palate which finishes fairly tart and crisp. The higher residual sugar is perhaps the reason for the winery's decision to release the 2011 in an Alsatian flute rather than a more traditional Burgundy shaped bottle like the 2010. The sugar also adds texture and contrasts the high acid and sharp green apple fruit flavours nicely making this a good patio companion for the summer. Enjoy this well-executed wine in its youth. Drink now-2014.
