Tasting Notes: There are individual elements of this wine that are compelling, but the complete package left me a little wanting. The medium-intense nose offers aromas of orchard fruit, vanilla bean and cardamon with light, tropical notes of pineapple and star fruit. The bright, dry palate follows with similar flavours, added citrus notes and green apple tartness wrapped together by a full-ish, French oak infused body and a creamy texture. A long finish lingers with spicy characters.
Produced from fruit grown on the Black Sage Bench in the southern Okanagan Valley. This Chardonnay shows that the winemaker understands the varietal and has something to say via the finished product. Exactly what that is will be much clearer to understand with future releases made from the estate grown grapes in Lillooet (2010 or 2011 vintage). Drink mid 2011-2014.
