Tasting Notes: Quality Merlot from Black Sage Bench winery Lastella who source great fruit from all over the Okanagan Valley. The fruit for this Merlot comes from a sandy vineyard in south Osoyoos: one of the hottest and driest spots in the Province. The resulting wine has good, ripe tannins and offers a lovely expression of dark berry fruits on the nose and palate. 18 months in French oak imparts vanilla and toasted oak to the flavour profile.
Winemaker Daniel Bontorin has delivered a quality and tasty Merlot with nice weight and texture on the palate and a balanced, moderate-plus finish. Pair with roasted, red meats. Drink now through 2014.
