Tasting Notes: Powerhouse Bordeaux-style red blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc from popular boutique winery La Frenz which is located on the Naramata Bench in the Okanagan Valley of BC. The Reserve is a dark, inky ruby colour and is aged in 100% French oak for 22 months which develops fine, silky smooth tannins and loads of character.
On the nose you get layers of floral perfume, vegetable notes and oak spices. On the palate you will get chocolate, leather, earth notes, vanilla and dark berry flavours. For the complexity and character you get from this wine, the $40 price is a relative bargain. Drink now or add a few to your cellar for special ocasions. This wine will develop further in the bottle over the next 3-4 years and can be enjoyed over the next 10 years. - LC
