Tasting Notes: Back after a year off the La Frenz portfolio due to severe winter damage in 2009 that wiped-out the vintage of the variety. Labeled as "Shiraz" in reference to proprietors Jeff and Niva Martin's Australian heritage, though produced in cool-climate, Northern Rhone style with intense black pepper and ripe cherry aromas and hearty, cured-meat notes.
The dry palate has good balance with a slight tart edge to the acidity. Leaner body than in previous years (2008) with mineral, white pepper, black cherry and light coffee grind flavours. Moderate tannins and a leaner profile suggests enjoying this BC expression of the Rhone Valley variety over the first 2-3 years. Drink 2012-2015.
