Château De Myrat 2007 Grand Cru Classe (Sauternes) Bordeaux - France
Availability: Limited
Cost: ??
Alcohol: 13.5%
Date Tasted: December 31st, 2017
Tasting Notes: From the cellar. At 10 years of age this elegant Sauternes has turned a brilliant, medium amber hue and offers developed aromas of canned peaches, dried apricots and orange liqueur on the sublime, medium-plus intense nose. The finish has shortened a tad, but the grace and depth remain in bloom with flavours of nutty-honey, peach nectar, candied ginger and a touch of smoky toffee.
Has another 5 years to go in its prime. Drink now-2024.

Château Bastor-Lamontagne 2007 Grand Vin – 88-89pts
Château Bastor-Lamontagne 2007 Grand Vin (Sauternes) Bordeaux - France
Availability: BCLDB stores
Cost: $19 (375ml)
Alcohol: 14%
Date Tasted: January 1st, 2011
Tasting Notes: Intense apricot, peach, petrol and mineral aromas on the nose are followed by lemon and peach flavours on the fully sweet palate. Concentrated, fruity and fun, but lacking in complexity compared to the more famous Sauternes houses. Still, a good, entry-level Sauternes from the exceptional 2007 vintage (for white Bordeaux) which offers excellent value for money.
Pair with chocolate fondant cake for a sumptuous desert that will send you and your guests to frenzied sugar heaven. Drink 2011-2016.

2006 Chateau Rieussec - 92.33pts
2006 Chateau Rieussec (Sauternes) Bordeaux - France
Decanted: 2hrs
Cost: $59.00-$79.90 - 375ml
Date Tasted: September 13th, 2009
Tasting Notes: Excellent example of the complexity of flavours that can be hidden within a full-bodied sweet wine. Light gold in colour with a whole slew of fruit flavours on the nose and palate: apricot, candied-apple, peach, honeyed lemon. Add a touch of rosted-almonds and mineral notes and you have a very complex and satisfying 1er Cru Classé wine. Should develop nicely over the next decade.
